Manchester City teenager Floyd Samba announced himself with two goals on his senior debut in a 5-0 Carabao Cup win over Norwich City. The 17-year-old, son of former Premier League defender Christopher Samba, collected the ball on the left edge of the box and curled a composed right-footed finish past former City academy graduate Darren Grimshaw. Despite the striker heroics, Samba insists his best position is a box-to-box No. 8 midfielder, modeling his game on Paul Pogba.

His first goal was an instinctive header; the second showcased the free-kick technique that saw him score a notable set-piece against Manchester United in last season's FA Youth Cup final. He also linked play well with his back to goal. Manager Enzo Maresca has kept Samba in the first-team group for the 2026-27 campaign alongside Ryan Mc Aidoo and Kaden Braithwaite.

However, Samba faces stiff competition in a crowded midfield featuring Enzo Fernandez, Elliot Anderson, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Mateo Kovacic, and Nico O'Reilly. Analysts note he is still growing physically and must learn to use his frame effectively against senior opponents who match his athletic traits.
