Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola admitted the club needs more players as he works to strengthen the squad for the new season. Speaking at his first press conference after taking over last month, the 44‑year‑old said the club is "working hard" behind the scenes to bring in new signings.

The Reds have already signed defender Jérémy Jacquet and forward Víctor Muñoz, but depth remains a concern after the departures of Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konaté. Iraola acknowledged the transition period and expressed his desire to see players ready from day one, while noting that football realities mean new talent can take time to arrive.

Having spent three seasons as the boss of AFC Bournemouth, he reflected on the challenges of stepping into a club as massive as Liverpool, stressing the need to experience the role fully and to remain authentic rather than overly cautious. He added that he wants to present a team fans can be proud of and to connect with supporters.

The manager highlighted the importance of hard work, intensity and a vertical playing style to define the new Liverpool team.
