Iraola's Liverpool Pre-Season Plans Unveiled

New Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola begins his tenure with the squad reporting back to Merseyside on July 14. Iraola, known for his front-foot, aggressive style, will have just over a month to implement his vision before the Premier League opener against Newcastle on August 23. His coaching staff includes Tommy Elphick and Shaun Cooper, who worked with him at Bournemouth, and Pablo de la Torre as assistant coach, tasked with ensuring players are physically ready for his demanding system.

The training sessions are expected to be intense, with Iraola actively involved in drills and often refereeing mini-games. The club aims to rebuild team identity following public criticism of the previous style of play. The signing of Victor Munoz suggests an awareness of the need for risk-taking against defensive teams. Iraola will assess the current squad, with academy players like Josh Abe also participating in pre-season.

Most of the squad will be available, with only Alexis Mac Allister and Munoz still involved in international tournaments. Several players returning from injury, including Jeremy Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni, will be evaluated for potential first-team roles alongside established defenders like Virgil van Dijk. Liverpool's pre-season tour includes matches against Sunderland, Wrexham, Leeds, AS Monaco, and Como 1907 before the Premier League season commences.
