Griezmann Puts MLS Move on Hold for Copa del Rey Final

Antoine Griezmann has paused his potential move to Orlando City in MLS after Atlético Madrid advanced to the Copa del Rey final on April 18, sources told ESPN. The France striker was in talks with the MLS club about a transfer before the March 26 deadline, but Atlético's cup run has changed his plans. Sources said Orlando's offer was only valid for this transfer window.

Griezmann, Atlético's all-time leading scorer with 210 goals, has yet to win a major title with Diego Simeone's team. The club's front office and Simeone himself were reportedly keen to keep him for a potential farewell campaign that could include lifting the Copa del Rey trophy. Atlético will face either Real Sociedad or Athletic Club in the final.

The 34-year-old forward still has two years remaining on his contract at Atlético, which runs through 2027. Director of football Mateu Alemany said last week that Griezmann is "absolutely focused on what's coming up" after the Champions League draw paired Atlético with Tottenham in the round of 16.
