Denver Summit FC’s new permanent stadium near downtown will not be ready for the start of the 2028 NWSL season as originally planned. A team spokesperson confirmed that construction schedules are being finalized and the club hopes to host some 2028 home matches at the new venue in Santa Fe Yards, just south of downtown Denver.

The expansion team originally intended to have the stadium erected by 2028, but delays in acquiring the land pushed that timeline back to at least later that year. The Denver Business Journal first reported the news, noting the club’s 14,500-seat design that could expand for larger events.

Until the permanent stadium is complete, Summit will play at Centennial Stadium in Centennial, Colorado, about 15 mi south of Denver. The 12,000‑seat temporary venue opened with a sell‑out crowd that saw the club defeat the Portland Thorns 2‑1. Centennial will later be scaled down for local schools.

Commissioner Jessica Berman highlighted the need for interim solutions when building purpose‑built infrastructure. Owner Rob Cohen reflected on the rapid 15‑month growth, noting the team’s journey from no staff to a full roster and coaching staff. The club remains committed to delivering a quality home for fans.
