Ruben Amorim leading AC Milan managerial race

Former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has emerged as the frontrunner for the vacant AC Milan manager’s role. The 41‑year‑old, dismissed by United in January after a turbulent 14‑month spell, has been in talks with the Italian club following Massimiliano Allegri’s May sacking. No contract exists yet, but Milan list him high among candidates.

Milan entered the season nine points clear of fifth place after a March victory over Inter, yet managed only three wins in their final ten games, collecting ten points and slipping to a second‑place finish just one point behind Como, who clinched the Champions League berth on the final day. The collapse has intensified pressure on the board to appoint a proven tactician.

If Milan confirm Amorim, his first test will come in pre‑season when AC Milan travel to Wroclaw to face United on 15 August, a week before the Premier League starts. Rival candidates include Mauricio Pochettino and Oliver Glasner, while former United coach Ralf Rangnick has ruled himself out after extending his Austria contract to 2028. Amorim’s appointment would link his past and future in a high‑profile clash.
