Pochettino in talks to replace Allegri at AC Milan

Mauricio Pochettino met AC Milan officials on Tuesday to discuss the vacant manager’s seat after the club dismissed Massimiliano Allegri. The 54‑year‑old, currently on USA duty ahead of the summer Nations League finals, will become available once his United States contract expires post‑World Cup. Milan hope the Argentine can reverse a season that fell short of Champions League qualification.

Pochettino’s résumé includes a recent spell at Chelsea, where he guided the Blues to a sixth‑place Premier League finish and a Carabao Cup final loss to Liverpool. Prior roles at Paris Saint‑Germain, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton delivered a Ligue 1 title, a French Cup and a 2019 Champions League final appearance. Those achievements give Milan a proven tactician with experience in both domestic and European competition.

Milan’s recent 2‑1 loss to Cagliari dropped them to fifth place, ending a two‑year run in the Champions League and leaving only a Europa League slot. Appointing Pochettino could restore the club’s European ambitions and stabilize a squad that struggled under Allegri’s tactics. The negotiations are at an early stage, but both parties appear eager to conclude quickly.
