A consortium led by Amit Bhatia and backed by the Mittal family is in talks to acquire a significant minority stake in Liverpool Football Club, valuing the Premier League side at over $6bn. The investor group has hired advisers and is actively engaged with current owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG), according to sources.

FSG confirmed the consortium's interest. While no deal is finalized, this potential transaction highlights the enduring appeal of top-tier English football clubs and the global reach of the Premier League. It follows recent high-profile deals involving Chelsea and Manchester United.

FSG, controlled by John Henry, purchased Liverpool in 2010 for £300mn. They also own the Boston Red Sox and have investments in the PGA Tour, having recently sold the Pittsburgh Penguins. Bhatia has divested his stake in Queens Park Rangers to avoid conflicts.

Liverpool, a globally recognized sports brand with numerous titles including six Champions League wins, has seen significant revenue growth. The club has secured major commercial partnerships with companies like Adidas and Standard Chartered.
