The NHL will produce and distribute local game broadcasts for the Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Minnesota Wild, and St. Louis Blues for the upcoming season. This move by NHL Productions is a response to the demise of regional sports networks. Seven franchises, including these four, had agreements last season with Main Street Sports, which operated 15 regional channels under the Fan Duel Sports Network brand before going out of business.

"We've been looking at this day for a long time," said Steve Mayer, the NHL's president of events and content. "In some ways, this is a lot of time from the end of one season to the beginning of the next in terms of being able to do what we ultimately want to make it a great production." Major League Baseball began centralized local broadcasts in 2023, and the NBA plans a similar streaming hub by 2027-28.

Other teams previously on Fan Duel Sports Network have secured new broadcast partners. The Detroit Red Wings will air on Detroit Sports Net, the Los Angeles Kings on Angels Broadcast TV, and the Nashville Predators with Scripps Sports. NHL Productions aims to enhance local broadcasts with more cameras, improved replays, and national network-style graphics, while retaining local announcers. The league also hired Rob Mc Glarry as general manager of local media.
