Larkin’s Trade List Reveals Vegas, Minnesota, Florida as Only Destinations

Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin has filed a trade request, naming Vegas, Minnesota and Florida as the only destinations he accepts. The 29‑year‑old holds a full no‑trade clause and five seasons remain on his eight‑year, $69.6 million deal, which caps at $8.7 million annually after a decade of missing playoffs and a franchise‑wide slump.

Larkin’s move follows his 11th year in Detroit and a 10‑season playoff drought that now ranks as the longest active run in the NHL. The Red Wings fell short after matching the league’s second‑worst record of 69 points in 53 games, losing a chance to break the streak before the season ends in the standings.

General manager Steve Yzerman faces a tough task, as each target team carries less than $15.2 million in cap space next season. Vegas, ranking 31st, has only $4.6 million available, while Minnesota and Florida have similar constraints, limiting the package Yzerman can offer. This forces him to negotiate a draft pick or prospects to meet the cap.

Larkin, a six‑time 30‑goal scorer, recently posted 67 points, including a career‑best 34 goals. His departure would end a career spent entirely in the Detroit area, from college at Michigan to a 2014 draft selection. The Red Wings must now decide whether to trade him or keep a veteran in their rebuilding for the next without a clear plan.
