Veteran winger Jaromir Jagr signaled that his 38th professional season may be his last. The 54‑year‑old, now suited up for the Kladno Knights in the Czech league, admitted on Instagram that returning to the ice would require “a miracle” and a 15‑year‑younger body. He has logged just six games this campaign, the most recent on Dec. 21.

Jagr spent the past ten days glued to the Milan Cortina Olympics, praising the tournament as the best in a decade thanks to the return of NHL talent. Outside the living room he’s battling a 4‑5 kg weight gain, insisting on daily skating to maintain discipline. “I don’t train to be ready to play, but I try to stay on the ice,” he said.

Debuting for Kladno at 16, Jagr returned in 2018 after the Calgary Flames cut him and has since climbed to second on the NHL’s all‑time points list, trailing only Wayne Gretzky. Two early‑career Stanley Cups with Pittsburgh punctuate his résumé. Until last January he juggled player‑owner duties, then sold a majority stake, leaving a chance to guide Kladno to its first playoff berth.
