The St. Louis Blues have signed recently acquired forward Connor McMichael to a six-year, $40.5 million contract, with an annual cap hit of $6.75 million through the 2031-32 NHL season. General manager Alex Steen announced the deal on Thursday. McMichael, 25, was acquired from the Washington Capitals last month in a trade that sent Jordan Kyrou to Washington.

This new contract significantly increases McMichael's previous salary, more than tripling the $2.1 million he earned in each of the past two seasons. In his most recent campaign with the Capitals, McMichael set a career high with 32 assists and scored 14 goals in 78 games.

Since entering the league in 2021 after being selected 25th overall in the 2019 draft, McMichael has accumulated 162 points in 333 regular season and playoff games. The Blues also acquired prospect Milton Gastrin in the trade for McMichael.
