Former Arizona Cardinals tight end Travis Vokolek has announced his retirement from the NFL due to a neck injury sustained last season. The 28-year-old shared his decision on Instagram, stating that medical professionals advised him to retire after multiple consultations.

Vokolek suffered the injury on a kickoff return during a game against the Indianapolis Colts last October. The incident required him to be immobilized and carted off the field. He had been the Cardinals' third-string tight end and contributed to special teams, playing in four of the team's first five games in the past season.

He entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023 before joining the Cardinals. Vokolek's retirement comes after the Cardinals did not tender him a contract for the upcoming season, making him a free agent.
