Tisch Family Seeks to Transfer Giants Stake to Children's Trusts

The Tisch family has requested to transfer their 23.1% ownership stake in the New York Giants to their children's trusts, according to an NFL memo obtained by ESPN. Steve, Laurie and Jonathan Tisch are seeking approval from the league's finance committee to move their remaining interests in the team to the trusts.

This move comes after prior transfers were completed in 2023 and 2024 with finance committee approval. If approved, the Tisches would no longer own any interest in the Giants, though the family would maintain control through the trusts. The request follows recent scrutiny of Steve Tisch's communications with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein that were revealed in January.

The Tisch family co-owns the Giants with the Mara family, which has controlled the franchise since its founding in 1925. John Mara serves as president and CEO. The ownership structure has remained stable for decades, with the Koch family purchasing a noncontrolling stake last year. The transfer request appears to be part of standard succession planning, though the timing follows heightened attention on Tisch's past associations.
