Super Bowl Betting Drops to Decade Low in Nevada

Nevada sportsbooks reported a 10-year low in Super Bowl betting, with approximately $133.8 million wagered on Super Bowl LX. This marks the second consecutive year of declining wagers after the 2024 game in Las Vegas set records. The sportsbooks earned a net profit of $9.9 million on the Seattle Seahawks' 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots.

This year's betting total represents a significant decline from the peak in 2024, when $132.5 million was wagered. The drop comes as Nevada faces increasing competition from legal sports betting markets across the country and online prediction platforms. Las Vegas sources described a quieter than normal lead-up to the game, with hotel room rates dipping during what traditionally has been one of the city's biggest weekends.

Leading prediction market Kalshi reported over $1 billion traded on Super Bowl-related wagers, including $113 million on halftime performer Bad Bunny's first song and $24 million on actor Mark Wahlberg's attendance. Nevada's $9.9 million profit was down 55% from last year's record $22.1 million haul when the Philadelphia Eagles faced the Kansas City Chiefs. Bettors favored the Seahawks, who covered the 4.5-point spread while heavily backed stars like receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba failed to score touchdowns.
