Jeffery Simmons' halftime message and dominant play helped the Tennessee Titans secure their first win of the season, a 26-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Simmons stripped the ball from Jonathan Taylor on the first defensive snap of the second half and finished with six tackles, two sacks, two tackles for a loss, a forced fumble, and a recovery. Titans coach Robert Saleh praised Simmons as the best defensive tackle in football, crediting his locker room leadership and on-field performance for inspiring the team's 23-point second-half surge.
Tennessee entered the game averaging an NFL-low 11.6 points per game but broke two losing streaks: a seven-game overall skid and an 11-game losing streak to AFC South opponents. The win marked Saleh's first as Titans coach and second-year quarterback Cam Ward's first victory over an AFC South rival. Ward called Simmons the highest-paid player on the team and the reason they won.
Simmons urged teammates to 'be present and just dominate,' emphasizing staying in the moment during high-pressure situations.
