Mike Reiss Oct 3, 2026, 06:00 PM ET FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Receiver Romeo Doubs' modest start with the Patriots has totaled six receptions for 145 yards, including a costly drop in the season-opening loss at Seattle and an offensive pass interference penalty in the blowout road loss to the Jaguars. His highlight was a three-catch, 96-yard performance in the win over the Steelers in Week 2. Coaches and teammates remain convinced of what the soft-spoken Doubs can bring, with coordinator Josh Mc Daniels noting, 'There's always going to be a period of acclimation [when players join new teams].' Doubs, 26, isn't discouraged, saying, 'I'm staying true to my process.' He has been on the field for 65% of offensive snaps, second only to Mack Hollins among receivers (72.5%).
The Patriots have adjusted after losing A. J. Brown to a right high ankle sprain early in the Sept. 9 opener.
Quarterback Drake Maye lamented a missed third-down throw to Doubs against the Jaguars but said, 'I'm gaining more and more trust in Romeo.' Mc Daniels praised Doubs' attitude, stating, 'I think he has a really bright future here for us,' while acknowledging the learning curve in New England.
