New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez returned to practice after an ankle injury, but expressed frustration regarding ongoing contract extension talks. Gonzalez, 24, stated he is focused on the season and preparing for a Super Bowl rematch against the Seattle Seahawks. He referenced that negotiations have lingered all offseason.

Patriots executive vice president Eliot Wolf confirmed Gonzalez remains a priority, noting the team has not set a deadline to finalize a deal. Gonzalez, a first-round pick at No. 17 in 2023, is represented by agent Reggie Johnson. Johnson recently negotiated a four-year, $132 million extension for Seattle cornerback Devon Witherspoon.

At training camp's start, team owner Robert Kraft stated the Patriots made an offer making Gonzalez the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL. Gonzalez is under contract for two more seasons, scheduled to earn $2.259 million in 2026 and $18.11 million in 2027.
