Las Vegas Raiders Rebuild Strategy

After a disastrous 3-14 season, Las Vegas Raiders GM John Spytek faces a massive rebuilding task. The franchise holds the No. 1 overall draft pick and possesses the league's second-most cap space. Spytek admits the team played well below expectations, resulting in Pete Carroll's firing. However, these assets provide a rare opportunity to construct a roster capable of sustained success rather than quick fixes.

Spytek is collaborating with minority owner Tom Brady on a critical coaching search to find stability. The Raiders have cycled through five coaches since 2021, forcing players like Tre Tucker to constantly learn new offensive systems. Spytek is eyeing turnaround models used by Jacksonville, New England, and Chicago. He seeks an offensive-minded leader who can maximize current talent, specifically tight end Brock Bowers and running back Ashton Jeanty.

Quarterback remains the biggest question mark entering the offseason. Veteran Geno Smith led the league in interceptions and struggled behind a porous offensive line that allowed 55 sacks. Spytek hasn't committed to Smith for 2026, leaving the door open for Indiana's Fernando Mendoza with the top pick. Mendoza's impressive College Football Playoff performance makes him an attractive option to lead the new offense.
