The late Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay's memorabilia collection sold for $93,656,609 at Christie's auctions, far exceeding pre-auction estimates of $40 million. The three-day live auction concluded March 14, with online bidding continuing. The collection featured music memorabilia, sports artifacts, and cultural items that reflected Irsay's eclectic collecting interests.

Sports items proved particularly valuable, with Ron Turcotte's Secretariat Triple Crown saddle fetching $1.524 million - a record for horse racing memorabilia. Wayne Gretzky's Edmonton Oilers jersey from his 500th NHL goal sold for $952,500, while Muhammad Ali's fight robe from his first appearance as Muhammad Ali (after changing from Cassius Clay) reached $444,500. A Jackie Robinson bat from 1953 and Sylvester Stallone's original "Rocky" script also commanded six-figure prices.

The auction set 23 world records, including the most expensive guitar ever sold - David Gilmour's black Stratocaster for $14.55 million - and the highest price for a literary manuscript, Jack Kerouac's "On the Road" typescript at $12.135 million. Jerry Garcia's "Tiger" guitar reached $11.56 million, while Kurt Cobain's 1969 Fender Mustang hit $6.907 million. A portion of proceeds will benefit philanthropic causes Irsay supported during his lifetime.
