The New York Jets have agreed to terms with former Chicago Bears cornerback Nahshon Wright on a one-year contract worth up to $5.5 million, sources told ESPN. The 6-foot-4, 27-year-old brings much-needed playmaking ability to a Jets secondary that struggled mightily last season, finishing without a single interception.

Wright recorded a career-high five interceptions and 11 pass breakups for the Bears in 2025, finishing second on the team with those numbers. His 74-yard pick-six in the season opener against the Vikings highlighted a breakout year that saw him start 16 regular-season games and both playoff contests. The former Oregon State standout fits exactly what new coach Aaron Glenn wants in his man-to-man defensive scheme.

The Jets have been aggressive in their defensive rebuild, adding Wright one day after trading for All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. This move continues their overhaul that also includes linebacker Demario Davis, pass rushers Joseph Ossai and Kingsley Enagbare, defensive tackle David Onyemata, and safety Dane Belton. Wright's addition gives the Jets a legitimate starting corner opposite Brandon Stephens.
