The Jaguars’ two‑way experiment with rookie Travis Hunter sparked fresh debate this spring. Drafted second overall in 2025, the former Heisman star has split time at cornerback and receiver, then saw his rookie season end with a torn LCL on Oct. 30. After surgery and rehab, he returned to the team’s offseason program on limited duty, shrugging off criticism.

Coach Liam Coen and GM James Gladstone reiterated that Hunter will start at cornerback in 2026 while still contributing on offense. Tuesday’s first organized team activity saw him run the entire offense huddle, listen to play calls on a radio and line up for drills, proving his commitment. He now spends two‑hour sessions in the expanded virtual walkthrough room, logging 30‑40 reps in short bursts.

Hunter’s NFL outing produced eight catches for 104 yards and his first touchdown, nudging him toward the No. 1 receiver slot as Brian Thomas Jr. struggled with drops. He logged 28 receptions for 298 yards, 15 tackles and three pass breakups before the injury, covering 67% of offensive snaps. With his knee feeling good, the Jaguars count on his versatility to boost both units this season.
