The New York Giants' running back room has grown increasingly crowded with the recent signing of Najee Harris, a four-time 1,000-yard rusher who is expected to be more than just a fourth option.

Harris, who signed a one-year minimum deal worth $1.215 million, received three carries during joint practices with the Miami Dolphins and took three days to fully participate in live drills. Despite the modest contract, the team views him as a significant contributor.

Cam Skattebo remains the starter and top option, showing strong form in the preseason opener against the Vikings. Coach Jim Harbaugh noted Skattebo is regaining his pre-injury explosiveness after recovering from an open fracture of his right ankle.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary also remain in the mix, with Tracy working regularly with starting quarterback Jaxson Dart. The addition of Harris provides depth and insurance, particularly given concerns about Skattebo's long-term durability due to his playing style and size.
