Falcons starting right tackle Kaleb McGary is retiring at age 31, his agent Collin Roberts announced on social media. McGary, who missed the entire 2025 season with a knee injury, was set to anchor the offensive line for both Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa in 2026. The Falcons moved swiftly to address the position, agreeing to a one-year contract with free-agent right tackle Jawaan Taylor worth $5 million in base salary with $1 million in incentives, according to his agents.

Taylor, a Super Bowl winner with 111 career starts, brings veteran experience but struggled with penalties during his time with the Chiefs. McGary started 92 games over six seasons in Atlanta, known as an elite run blocker who helped Bijan Robinson thrive. Atlanta will recoup some salary cap space due to McGary's retirement, though his backup Storm Norton also missed last season with an injury.
