The Eagles agreed to send star wide receiver A.J. Brown to the Patriots on Monday in exchange for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round selection. This move reunites Brown with head coach Mike Vrabel, who coached him during his tenure with the Tennessee Titans from 2019 to 2021. Brown, entering his age-29 season, immediately becomes the top target for quarterback Drake Maye in New England.

Brown's departure from Philadelphia comes after months of tension with the Eagles' offense, though he leaves behind impressive franchise records. His 1,496 receiving yards in 2022 and 1,456 yards in 2023 rank as the two highest single-season totals in team history. Across his career, Brown sits fourth in the NFL in both receiving yards (8,029) and touchdown catches (56), making him one of only two players alongside Ja'Marr Chase to record 1,000-plus yards and seven touchdowns in each of the past four seasons.

The Patriots inherit Brown's contract, which averages $32 million annually through 2029 and ranks seventh among NFL receivers. Philadelphia prepared for this exit by drafting USC's Makai Lemon and acquiring multiple receivers this offseason. New England adds Brown to a receiving corps that already includes Romeo Doubs, who signed a $68 million deal in March.

This trade signals the Patriots' aggressive rebuild after losing to Seattle in Super Bowl LX, completely reshaping their receiving room following Stefon Diggs' release. Brown's arrival gives them a proven No. 1 option while the Eagles gain significant draft capital to accelerate their own offensive overhaul.
