Devin Lloyd Leads Panthers Defense with Green Dot

Linebacker Devin Lloyd will wear a green dot helmet sticker as the Carolina Panthers' defensive signal-caller during Friday's preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Ever Bank Stadium.

Lloyd, 27, signed a three-year, $41.9 million deal with the Panthers in March after earning second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors in his final season with the Jaguars. The green dot responsibility was a nonnegotiable in free agency for Lloyd, who embraces being the middle man between coordinator Ejiro Evero and the defense.

His communication skills have impressed coaches and teammates alike. Veteran safety Tre'von Moehrig noted Lloyd's natural ability to speak efficiently in the huddle, while offensive coordinator Brad Idzik values his pre-snap insights. Lloyd's dedication extends beyond defense, as he regularly studies film and works on his craft.

During his breakout 2025 season, Lloyd recorded 81 tackles, 1.5 sacks, seven pass breakups, and five interceptions. The Panthers hope his leadership, along with the addition of Jaelan Phillips, can improve their 16th-ranked defense from last season.
