Washington Commanders star left tackle Laremy Tunsil will undergo surgery to repair a torn triceps and is expected to miss significant time. Coach Dan Quinn said the team hopes the five‑time Pro Bowler will return this season, though he did not give a specific timeline.

Tunsil's injury is a crucial blow væ to the offense, costing it a player considered one of the best at his position. Recovery can take at least four months and as long as six or seven. Quinn confirmed Brandon Coleman will be Washington's starting left tackle during Tunsil's absence, and the team will not look outside the organization for additional help.

The injury occurred during a one‑on‑one pass‑rush drill in Saturday's practice, and Tunsil immediately fell over in apparent pain. Washington had signed him to a two‑year extension giving him $61.5 million in guarantees, making him the first offensive lineman to average $30 million a season. At 32, Tunsil has long been considered one of the NFL's top tackles and was the only Commander named in ESPN's recent top‑10 survey.

Quinn praised Coleman, noting he has played a lot of winning football at left tackle and is ready for the role. He added that Coleman put in an excellent offseason and the team is very confident in him.
