The Washington Commanders are hiring D.J. Williams as their quarterbacks coach, according to ESPN. He joins from the Atlanta Falcons, where he held the same title this season. Williams has also worked with the New Orleans Saints in offensive roles and participated in the NFL's quarterback coaching summit.

His father, Doug Williams, remains a senior adviser for the Commanders and famously became the first Black quarterback to win a Super Bowl in 1987. D.J. Williams's arrival follows the recent promotion of David Blough to offensive coordinator after Kliff Kingsbury's departure.

This move continues the staff assembly for head coach Dan Quinn, who is also searching for a defensive coordinator. Candidates include Brian Flores, Patrick Graham, and Joe Cullen. The team is rebuilding its coaching identity after a 5-12 season.
