Colts coach Shane Steichen confirmed that receiver Josh Downs will play against the Jacksonville Jaguars despite requesting a trade earlier this week. Downs had expressed frustration amid the Colts' organizational changes, which include the firing of GM Chris Ballard and the trades of Quenton Nelson and De Forest Buckner.
Steichen told reporters he spoke with Downs, urging him to remain focused. 'Hey, you're a professional,' Steichen said. 'Obviously, you requested a trade. But you're on this football team, and you've got to show up.'
Downs leads the Colts with 307 receiving yards this season, playing a larger role with the departure of Alec Pierce and Tyler Warren. Despite a career-low 56.5% catch rate, Steichen expects him to perform at his best Sunday.
