Arizona Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur has hired Nathaniel Hackett as his offensive coordinator, making it clear Hackett was his only target for the role. LaFleur, who took over the Cardinals' coaching position, emphasized Wednesday that he wanted Hackett and nobody else for the job.

Hackett, who previously served as offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers from 2019 to 2021 and spent last season as a defensive analyst for LaFleur's brother Matt in Green Bay, was the former head coach of the Denver Broncos. The longtime coaching colleagues, who have known each other for a decade, share similar philosophies and approaches to the game.

While LaFleur will call plays himself, Hackett's role will focus on 'setting the table' by establishing offensive schemes and maintaining energy throughout the organization. Hackett expressed excitement about working with LaFleur, citing their strong relationship and communication as key factors in his decision to join the Cardinals. This coaching move represents LaFleur's first major staff decision as he begins building his program in Arizona.
