The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are re-signing defensive tackle Rakeem Nunez-Roches to a one-year contract, according to a source. The 32-year-old returns to Tampa after spending the past three seasons with the New York Giants, where he appeared in nine games last season despite battling ankle and toe injuries that landed him on injured reserve.

During his previous stint with the Buccaneers from 2018 to 2022, Nunez-Roches played 68 regular-season games with 22 starts and helped secure Super Bowl LV in 2020. The sixth-round draft pick out of Southern Mississippi has accumulated 142 regular-season games with 62 starts and eight playoff appearances across his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, Buccaneers, and Giants.

Bucs coach Todd Bowles specifically mentioned Nunez-Roches when discussing the team's goal of getting bigger and more physical along the defensive line. The Tampa Bay Times first reported the signing, which comes alongside free agent additions of defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson and outside linebacker Al-Quadin Muhammad as Tampa Bay aims to rebuild a stout defensive front.
