The Denver Broncos signed head coach Sean Payton to a new five-year contract on Thursday, securing their leader through the 2030 season. The deal replaces the two years remaining on his previous contract, though financial terms were not disclosed.

Payton has transformed Denver's fortunes, guiding the Broncos to a 14-3 regular-season record in 2025 and an AFC Championship Game appearance. Over three seasons, Denver improved each year while compiling a 32-19 mark under his leadership.

This extension follows general manager George Paton's five-year deal last month, creating organizational stability through 2030. The Broncos originally acquired Payton by sending a 2023 first-round pick and 2024 second-round selection to the New Orleans Saints, along with receiving a 2024 third-round pick.

After stepping away from the Saints following the 2021 season, Payton returns to Denver with championship pedigree, having led New Orleans to its only Super Bowl victory in 2009. The Broncos are betting that continuity pays off after their significant investment in draft capital to secure his services.
