Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Shemar Stewart suffered a hyperextended left knee during the first day of training camp, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The belief is Stewart sustained no ligament damage. He was seen in a protective brace and on crutches.

Stewart, the team's first-round pick in 2025, dealt with injuries last season, recording one sack in eight games. He missed offseason activities due to contract issues, impacting his readiness at the start of the season. He sustained another injury in Week 2, affecting his availability for most of the campaign.

The Bengals have bolstered their defensive end position with free agent Boye Mafe, second-round pick Cashius Howell, and projected starter Myles Murphy (2023 first-round pick). Other players on the depth chart include Cedric Johnson and Isaiah Foskey.
