The Minnesota Vikings have restructured Aaron Jones' contract, keeping the veteran running back with the team for the 2026 season. His new one-year deal is worth $5.6 million, including $5 million guaranteed, according to his agent Drew Rosenhaus. This move comes after the Vikings had informed Jones he would be released unless he agreed to a restructured contract.

Jones, 31, was set to earn $10 million with a cap hit of $14.8 million for 2026. The restructuring provides the Vikings with significant salary cap relief while retaining a respected locker room presence. The team also released defensive tackle Javon Hargrave on the same day, freeing up additional cap space.

Injuries limited Jones to 12 games in 2025, producing his lowest totals since his rookie season with 548 rushing yards and 747 total yards from scrimmage. Despite the decline, Jones remains a valuable veteran presence for Minnesota after spending two seasons with the Vikings following seven years with the Green Bay Packers. His career achievements include ranking third on the Packers' all-time rushing list with 5,940 yards.
