Stacey King, the Chicago Bulls’ 1990s power forward, died Sunday at 59. The former first‑round pick and 3‑time champion left a legacy as a player and as the voice that brought Bulls basketball into homes for three decades. Drafted sixth overall in 1989, he played every game his rookie season and helped the Bulls win championships in 1991, 1992, and 1993.

King averaged 6.4 points and 3.3 rebounds over eight NBA seasons, starting with a full 82‑game rookie year that paired him with Michael Jordan. After stints with Minnesota, Miami, Boston and Dallas, he retired and joined the Bulls’ broadcast booth, earning an Emmy for his candid, humorous play‑calling that earned fans a nickname for every highlight. King also mentored young players during his broadcast tenure.

Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf said King’s connection to Chicago spanned more than three decades, describing him as a joy, energy, humor, candor and passion. Former coach Michael Reinsdorf added that King “brought people together” and made every game personal. The organization will remember his impact, legacy and the voice that defined an era in the organization.
