Top NBA draft prospect Darryn Peterson visited the Washington Wizards but will not grant other teams meetings before the June 23 draft, according to ESPN sources. The Washington Wizards hold the No. 1 overall pick after finishing 17-65 last season. Peterson's limited access strategy signals strong mutual interest with Washington, though rival teams view this as just one factor in their evaluation.

BYU's AJ Dybantsa has worked out for both the Wizards and Utah Jazz, who own the No. 2 selection. The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 25.5 points per game at BYU, leading the nation in scoring as a freshman. Peterson, a 6-foot-5 guard, posted 20.2 points per game at Kansas but missed 11 games due to creatine-related cramping issues. Both prospects believe they will be selected first overall.

Wizards executive Michael Winger acknowledged fans have endured difficult seasons during the franchise rebuild. Washington hasn't won a playoff series since 2017-18, making this top pick critical for their rebuilding timeline. The Jazz, at 22-60 last season, acquired Jaren Jackson Jr. before his knee surgery ended his campaign after just three games.

The draft begins at 8 p.m. ET on June 23, with both players convinced they'll hear their names called first by either Washington or Utah.
