NBA Lottery Teams Face Critical Offseason Decisions

With the 2026 NBA draft approaching, Bobby Marks examines the biggest questions facing each of the league's bottom-10 teams. From Brooklyn to Milwaukee, front offices must navigate complex decisions about player extensions, trades, and roster construction. The offseason will determine whether these franchises can rebuild or remain stuck in mediocrity.

Several teams face franchise-altering choices. The Brooklyn Nets must decide whether to extend Michael Porter Jr. or trade him after his strong first season in New York. Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks confront an even bigger dilemma with Giannis Antetokounmpo entering the final year of his contract. Controlling owner Wes Edens stated plainly that either an extension or trade is inevitable.

The draft lottery adds another layer of uncertainty. The Indiana Pacers face a 47.9% chance of losing their first-round pick to the Clippers after the February trade for Ivica Zubac. If they keep the pick, Indiana could draft from a talented pool including AJ Dybantsa and Cameron Boozer to rebuild around Tyrese Haliburton. Other teams like Dallas and Memphis must also decide whether to build through the draft or make bold moves with their young stars.
