Former NBA guard Malik Beasley pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Brooklyn federal court, denying allegations he altered play in 2024 to help bettors and ease his debts. He entered the plea through lawyer Jason Goldman after a brief arraignment. The case marks the latest development in a sweeping federal gambling investigation that has already ensnared dozens, and its impact on league integrity.

Prosecutors allege Beasley fixed at least four games while with the Milwaukee Bucks, manipulating rebound totals to meet betting lines. In one March contest, he chased a 3.5‑rebound line, securing a fourth rebound with seconds remaining and delivering a $3,252 profit for a bettor. His agent Paolo Zamorano and former teammate Ed Davis, who allegedly acted as a “gatekeeper,” also face not‑guilty pleas. The scheme reportedly involved multiple sportsbooks.

Both Beasley and Zamorano were released on bond, with a status conference set for Aug. 6. The former Pistons sharpshooter, who missed the 2025‑26 season while under investigation, previously posted a $1 million default judgment in a 2025 marketing lawsuit and has faced multiple personal debt disputes. The arraignment underscores growing scrutiny of gambling ties within professional basketball and raises questions about future oversight.
