Malik Beasley Hit with $1M Judgment in Agency Dispute

A federal judge has ordered NBA free agent Malik Beasley to pay $1 million to his former agency, Hazan Sports Management, in a contract dispute. Judge Jeannette A. Vargas issued the civil judgment after Beasley failed to respond to the lawsuit, leaving no objections filed or requests for extensions.

Hazan Sports claimed Beasley violated his contract when he left the agency in February 2025. The lawsuit alleged Beasley had received a $650,000 marketing advance but made only sporadic payments and vague promises to repay the balance. Beasley's representatives did not respond to ESPN's request for comment.

This legal setback comes as Beasley navigates other challenges, including a federal gambling probe and an NBA investigation. After a resurgent 2025 season that appeared to set up a $42 million contract with the Detroit Pistons, Beasley signed with Puerto Rico's Santurce Crabbers. The $1 million judgment adds to Beasley's mounting off-court issues as he seeks to revive his NBA career.
