The Los Angeles Lakers unveiled a towering bronze statue of legendary coach Pat Riley outside Crypto.com Arena. The nearly 8-foot-tall, 510-pound figure depicts Riley in his signature Giorgio Armani suit, complete with a crocodile leather belt, holding his trademark fist in the air. Riley, currently the Miami Heat's president, expressed his preference for the traditional coach's look, lamenting the NBA's adoption of casual polos and quarter-zips during the 2020 bubble. 'I think an audience wants to see somebody on the sidelines who looks like a leader, dresses like a leader,' he stated.

The statue immortalizes Riley's iconic 'Showtime' Lakers era, featuring the signal used to direct Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's skyhook. Guests included Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dwyane Wade, and actor Michael Douglas, who revealed his 'Wall Street' character's hair was inspired by Riley's style. The base inscription urges standing firm against challenges.

Riley, the 13th Lakers coach with a statue, joined Elgin Baylor, Kobe Bryant, Chick Hearn, Shaq, Jerry West, Magic, and Kareem.
