Free agent forward Jeremy Sochan is set to join the New York Knicks after clearing waivers, his agent Deirunas Visockas of Gersh Sports told ESPN. The 22-year-old was released by the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday after falling out of their rotation, with the Knicks emerging as his preferred destination among 10 interested teams.

Sochan, the ninth overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft, brings youth and versatility to New York's wing rotation. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 10.4 points and 5.6 rebounds across 212 games with the Spurs over four-plus seasons. This season, he's averaged 4.1 points and 2.6 rebounds in 28 games while shooting 47.5% from the field.

His departure from San Antonio coincided with the emergence of rookie forward Carter Bryant, the No. 14 pick in 2025. The Knicks, who sought wing depth before the trade deadline, will add Sochan for the remainder of the season. Known for his lockdown defense, Sochan previously logged a 31-point, 14-rebound performance when the Spurs experimented with him at point guard during Victor Wembanyama's rookie year.
