Knicks Lock Up Shamet with $24M Deal Ahead of Free Agency

The NBA champion New York Knicks are keeping veteran guard Landry Shamet off the free agency market with a four-year, $24 million contract extension. Sources indicate Shamet, 29, was drawing interest from multiple teams before reaching this agreement with the Knicks on Monday.

Agent George S. Langberg negotiated the deal directly with Knicks executives, securing a commitment that keeps New York below the second apron as owner James Dolan desired. This move gives the championship roster 11 players under contract heading into the summer.

Shamet contributed 7.1 points per game over 101 regular-season appearances with the Knicks, then stepped up during their title run averaging 6.0 points while hitting 47.5% from beyond the arc. His shooting proved reliable in limited minutes throughout the playoff push.

The guard previously played for five franchises including the Philadelphia 76ers and LA Clippers before finding his role in New York. Locking him up now prevents the Knicks from losing a proven rotation player to competing offers this summer.
