Ja Morant Injury Update: Grizzlies Star Out 2 More Weeks

Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant will miss at least two more weeks with a left elbow injury, the team announced Wednesday. The two-time All-Star sprained his ulnar collateral ligament on January 21 and continues to experience discomfort during rehabilitation. Morant will be re-evaluated in two weeks after appearing in just 20 games this season.

At 26, Morant has averaged 19.5 points, 7.4 assists, and 4.6 rebounds for the Grizzlies. His injury status loomed large during trade deadline speculation, as Memphis ultimately decided to keep the star guard rather than trade him. Instead, the Grizzlies sent two-time All-Star Jaren Jackson Jr. to the Utah Jazz in a major roster shakeup.

The injury news compounds Memphis' challenges this season. Guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will undergo surgery Thursday to repair a misaligned right pinky finger, with his recovery timeline to be determined afterward. The 33-year-old has contributed 8.4 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.5 rebounds across 51 games. With Morant sidelined and key rotation pieces dealing with injuries, the Grizzlies face an uphill battle to remain competitive in the Western Conference standings.
