Six-time NBA All-Star DeMar DeRozan has agreed to sign with the Denver Nuggets on a one-year, $3.9 million deal, sources told ESPN on Friday. DeRozan chose Denver after speaking with the Miami Heat, Washington Wizards and New Orleans Pelicans, opting for a significant role and a chance to compete in the West.

The Nuggets' front office and coaches made a strong recruitment effort, showing DeRozan how he would complement Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray as an additional playmaker. He also provides veteran backcourt presence after Denver sent Peyton Watson to Cleveland in a four-team trade. The Heat had mutual interest but prioritized Klay Thompson.

Sacramento waived DeRozan earlier this offseason to trim salary; only $10 million of his $25.7 million 2026-27 salary was guaranteed. At 37, DeRozan remained reliable in his 17th season, averaging 18.4 points on nearly 50% shooting. He has played at least 70 games in each of the past five seasons.
