New York Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler will miss upcoming bullpen sessions due to back inflammation and a lat issue, manager Aaron Boone announced Thursday. The 25-year-old right-hander, who made his major league debut last July, described his concern as "zero" while emphasizing the importance of proper preparation for Opening Day.

Schlittler posted a 2.96 ERA in 14 starts last season, striking out 84 batters while walking 31 in 73 innings. His fastball averaged 98 mph, and he delivered eight shutout innings against Boston in the Wild Card Series. Boone called the injury news "good" after tests and expects Schlittler to remain a key rotation piece.

The setback adds to the Yankees' pitching concerns, as the team already projects to start without ace Gerrit Cole (Tommy John recovery) and Carlos Rodón (elbow procedure). Clarke Schmidt is also sidelined following UCL repair surgery. Schlittler hopes to resume mound work next week after feeling the issue develop over the past few weeks.
