Blue Jays rookie right-hander Trey Yesavage will begin the 2026 MLB season on the injured list due to a shoulder impingement, the team announced Thursday.

Yesavage, 24, showed promise in limited action last fall, compiling a 3.21 ERA in three September starts before a strong postseason run. He struck out 39 batters in the playoffs, including a 12-strikeout performance against the Dodgers in the World Series. Manager John Schneider confirmed the injury existed at spring training and stated Yesavage is now feeling better, though no return timeline exists.

This injury joins fellow starters Jose Berrios (elbow) and Shane Bieber (forearm) on the IL, leaving the defending AL champions with significant pitching depth concerns as they aim to repeat as champions.
