Blue Jays right-hander Dylan Cease exited Sunday's game against the Pirates in the fifth inning due to mild left hamstring discomfort, joining slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. who left earlier after being hit on the right elbow by a pitch. X-rays on Guerrero came back negative, revealing only a contusion, while Cease allowed two runs and four hits in 4⅔ innings.

Cease, who signed a seven-year, $210 million contract with the reigning AL champions in December, has made at least 30 starts in each of the past five seasons. Sunday marked just the second time in 11 starts this season that he failed to complete five innings, walking one and striking out eight against Pittsburgh.

The Blue Jays currently have 13 players on the injured list, including starting pitchers Shane Bieber, José Berríos, Bowden Francis, Cody Ponce, and Max Scherzer. The team's pitching depth faces continued strain as they navigate multiple injuries to key members of their rotation.
