The Cincinnati Reds have placed utility man Spencer Steer on the 10-day injured list due to a right wrist sprain. Steer sustained the injury during Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals when he fouled a pitch off the end of his bat.

He was unable to continue his at-bat after consulting with manager Terry Francona and training staff. The versatile Steer, who has played multiple outfield positions and infield spots this season, is batting .238 with 16 home runs and 40 RBIs in 98 games.

In a corresponding move, the Reds recalled infielder/outfielder Ivan Johnson from Triple-A Louisville. The Reds, who have won three straight road series, are beginning a homestand against the Cleveland Guardians.
