Reliever Yuki Matsui bounced the throw into the dirt during a game against the Baltimore Orioles. Manager Craig Stammen noted Fermin felt woozy and had suffered multiple head shots earlier this season.

To fill the void, San Diego selected the contract of Blake Hunt from Triple-A El Paso. This roster move forced the team to designate pitcher Ty Adcock for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. Rodolfo Duran took over catching duties for the series finale at Camden Yards on Sunday.
