Lindor set for additional rehab game as Mets weigh activation

Francisco Lindor will log at least one more minor‑league rehab outing before the Mets decide whether to activate him from the injured list. The shortstop is slated to appear in his third rehab game Tuesday with Triple-A Syracuse, after a weekend split between Syracuse and Double‑A Binghamton where he went 1‑for‑8 and struggled to find timing.

Manager Carlos Mendoza said the club will reassess after Tuesday’s game and determine Lindor’s next step. Rain forced a postponed doubleheader against the Cubs and cancelled a simulated at‑bat session on Monday, limiting his indoor work to baseball drills. The Mets hope the extra game will confirm his readiness and gauge his calf response before a possible roster move.

Lindor’s calf strain dates to April 22, when he pulled a left calf scoring on a double by Francisco Alvarez against Minnesota. The injury proved more severe than the right‑calf strain that sidelined Juan Soto for 15 games in April, a stretch that coincided with a 12‑game losing streak and highlighted the team's depth concerns.

Before the injury, Lindor was hitting .226 with two homers and five RBIs. He missed most of spring training after elbow surgery and a left hamate procedure last season. With Lindor unavailable, Bo Bichette has taken over shortstop duties while the club navigates a $126 million, three‑year contract that shifted him to third base for the remainder of the campaign.
